          John  Fletcher (G 54-60) has reported the death in January of Judge McCreath.
        Alistair McCreath died on 30th January 2022 aged 73 years. He  was married with two children. Following school at St Bees and university he  embarked upon a career in the law. In 1972 he was called to the bar and practised  as a Barrister in Birmingham until 1995, ultimately specialising in criminal  work, something he continued from 1996 when he became a Circuit Judge sitting  at Birmingham Crown Court. Among those he sentenced was the popstar Gary  Glitter. In 2007 he became Honorary Recorder of Worcester. He was well known  for his advocacy of the continuing education and training of the judiciary and  was a great supporter of the use of computer technology in the courts. In 2011  he became Resident Judge at Southwark Crown Court and Honorary Recorder of  Westminster in 2012. Above all he was noted for his contribution as a trainer  of advocates and his great encouragement of the next generation of students for  the bar.
